The cons: It has a bunch of chambers to inflate (the slide alone has like six or seven), so seriously make sure you have an electric air pump with the wide and narrow attachments. Literally, I think you would die if you tried to blow this up with your mouth. Unless you're a politician. (Thanks, folks, I'll be here all week.) The sprinkler takes a minute to fill up and come to full pressure, and we had to turn our hose to BARELY on, or the sprinkler shot like 20 feet in the air. Which was actually totally awesome, but just a bit much for the age group. The slide seemed a little sticky -- the kids seemed to need a little assistance to slide down. It didn't seem to bother any of them, but I feel like it would've bothered me if I were actually small enough to go on it.
Overall, a great pool. Highly recommended.
You absolutely need a pump to inflate this product. I went with the Intex 6C pump (which uses 6 C-cell batteries) which is good for about 10 inflations before the batteries die. When using this pump, it's not obvious how it will fit into the valves, since the fit is very tight around the pump openings. However, it works totally fine with a little bit of force. I usually use my mouth to push in a little bit extra air to make the inflation a bit firmer (see below). As soon as you remove the pump, the product quickly loses air, so you have a split second to close the valve by hand. One thing that is NOT mentioned in the instructions is that the main valve is a TWO STAGE value: the way it is supposed to work is that you inflate the product first with the valve completely open to inflate the product about 95% of the way. Then you insert the first part of the valve and continue to inflate the remaining 5% - it is actually a two-way valve which wasn't obvious to me. The Intex 6C pump isn't strong enough to get the last 5%, so you will need to do this by mouth which is a bit of a workout.
Unfortunately, this product has some flaws which you should be aware of prior to purchasing. I think if you're careful, this product should last a long time. Unfortunately, ours bit the dust yesterday due to the second one.
The first giant flaw is that the palm tree is attached to the main air reservoir, so unless you get the full 100% inflation of this reservoir (see above), the tree will droop into the wading pool and interfere with play. After the plastic stretches out a bit after filling, even if you thought you filled up the air to 100% you might need to blow in a few more puffs for it to stay standing up. Aside from it interfering with play, if the palm tree is damaged during play, it will break the whole pool since it is attached to the outermost ring. I'm not clear why Intex designed it this way.
The second flaw are the water jets. This pool CANNOT handle much water pressure from a garden hose. To get around this, the manufacturer included an intentionally leaky hose connector which prevents too much pressure buildup. This will create a puddle next to the pool which I didn't like. Thinking I was smart, I sealed up the connector to prevent leaks. However, one twist of the garden hose and the sprinkler portion instantly burst INTO the main air reservoir, causing water to go into the main section of the pool interior which is NOT patchable. So sadly this one ended up in the bin.
I'm contemplating getting a replacement since my kids love it so much, but I'd recommend not using the water spray attachment at all due to this flaw in design.
